My Entrecard - What Do You Think?

OK - I want to update my Entrecard. Someone turned down my ad because of my Entrecard. It just wasn’t a high enough quality image they said. I’ve been wanting to change it anyway. So if you wouldn’t mind giving me your opinion…

Which of the following do you think I should use?

Feel free to leave your comments as well explaining your choice and why. In fact, if you vote for none of the above I’d love to hear your comments on what you suggest. Please.

Oh, and you can view the EntreGame clue below.

I like the 3rd one because the text is easy to read and the whole photo is visible enough to discern what it is. The image looks like a high-quality picture as well.

Joy,

Thanks for your input. I tried the same card with the font to match the header but it wasn’t to readable. I was surprised to find that this font was more easily read.

Hi there. I don’t know much about entrecard, today is my first day using it. However, if you go under the campaign page and choose the category I registered in: The Environment, and you look at all the entrecard icons on the page, mine will stand out. I had no idea what I was doing, I just tried to get a beautiful image representative of the theme of my site.

I think that you need to do the same. I think most entrecard logos I’ve seen are pretty nondescript or boring. I think you need to get a beautiful image, that will stand out, that is very high quality, and use it. I have Photoshop capability, so if you’d like some help with this, I’d be more than happy to lend a hand.

Good luck with your search for the perfect logo. Remember, no matter what anyone else thinks, it’s your blog, it’s your entrecard, and you have to choose a way to present yourself and your blog that’s right for you, no matter what anyone else thinks. Including me.

Cheers!

Thanks Matt

Yes, I do love your Entrecard. I would love an image of mountains or such but it doesn’t match the theme of my blog. The reason why I was choosing the same image as my header for my Entrecard is because I wanted people to relate with their the two visually.

I guess I could go with something completely different. I would be interested in what you could come up with. My biggest problem has been in making the text visible enough to be read. I do want the words on the card. That is very important to me.

I went out on a lonely limb and picked No. 2. I dare say that I didn’t see anything wrong with the first image! I’m not sure that the image entirely goes with the concept of your blog, but it is certainly a high quality image. I’m always amazed when I hire someone to do graphics for me at how they conceptualize my ideas. I once did a “rendering” for a custom home builder of a model home they were selling and they cancelled their contract with me because it was “too good”. So, I’d want to know what was so glaringly “not high quality” about the image. Resolution? Colors? Type style? Graphics? Concept?

You have a great site with lots of quality content!

blessings,
julia

The reason why I choose this image was that to me it shows someone passing dreams down from one generations to another. To me it looks as if they are daydreaming of their future together. I thought about a compass, keys, etc., I still may switch to something like that once I find the perfect image. Maybe I’ll do another search. Maybe I’ll have you all vote on a new header shortly as well.

Wow - canceling because it is to good. Amazing. People do the strangest things.

The problem with the image was because it was too grainy and they had better images in their advertising que. It was a extremely high quality image (online museum quality for print) to start with and I saved it at 300 dpi but I made it more transparent so the text would stand out.

Well I must say I think that is rather cheeky of someone to reject your card for that. I like your card the way it was, but I think number three is very good also. If you do fix your card I personally would not advertise with that blog. But that is just me.

Number 3 is easier to look and read

That’s a strange reason to refuse advertising on entrecard. It would be a reason that the image does not fit in the concept of the blog you wanted to advertise on, but to turn it down because it is not a high enough quality image… I liked your card although I have to say I always thought your blog was about history or art.

The third one. The first is awkward to read, but it would probably be fine as a larger image. The 2nd is too stark, but with the third you get some image and some text, and you can pick them both out.
