What Do You Really Want?

Running Down the Road to SuccessI still struggle with what I want to be when I grow up. You see I want to do everything and be everything. I want to be an artist. I want to be a life-coach. I want to be an inspiring mom. I want to be a healer. I want to be an art-therapist. I want to be a successful business women. I want to be a multi-millionaire. I want to be an author. I want to make a difference in the lives of others. I want…

Well I want it all.

The amazing thing is that I am doing all those things. Sure maybe not to the level I plan on doing them. But I am doing them. How you may wonder? How can I do all that and more?

It’s simple. I know what I want. I focus on what I want and it comes. Usually not at the speed I want. But it comes.

You see…

I’m an author now. But someday I’ll have a book on the shelves of your favorite bookstore.
I’m an artist and have been paid well for my artistic expertise. But someday my art will be collected.
I am a multi-millionaire in the making and my bank account is growing.
I am a successful business women, but much more success will come.
I am a healer. People find healing and comfort in my words and ideas but I have just begun.
I coach others towards success and will coach many more.

I’m walking on that road to success. Some days I run. Some days I crawl. And some days I have to stop and rest. But I am journeying along the path. I am taking the steps one day at a time.

Where are you going?

Are you journeying down the road to success or are you sitting on the sidelines waiting for a Taxi?

Be clear about what it is you really want. The step out onto that road and start the wonderful journey.

Sit down and write down your goals. Write down your dreams. Write down your vision of the future. Take the first step! Do it now! Do it today!

I was thinking just a few days ago about what I wanted out for life, something that I’ve had trouble with deciding on for years, and I realised that I needed to twist what I was doing through 180 degrees, and as myself what I was unhappy with. Instead of pretending I want to be president of the world, I realised I want a better job because of [reason], a better relationship with [person] because of [reason], etc.

Changing my attitude really helped me clear things up. :)

Being focused on our “why” is huge! Isn’t it amazing what a new outlook can do for us. How we view our circumstances is simply a matter of changing our view, or our perception.

Love your blog by the way. I’m starting my own online gratitude journal. You were the inspiration!

It’s funny you should make a post like this because I just did one on my blog called, “How Does Your Business Stack Up?”. It’s about where are you with your goals at then end of the first quarter of the year. Mine was more business related but can also be applied to anyone’s personal life. There are tips people can use to make adjustments for the future on my post.

There’s a book I would recommend to everyone reading this post called, “Pump Up The Power Get The Life You Want”. It’s actually my book club’s book of the month. One of my favorite affirmations that Rebecca Simmons, the author, shares is “I will not allow feelings of fear, laziness, or disinterest stop me from doing the things that I know I need to do today.” Many times people are stalled in achieving what they want by fear. This affirmation will help you to get beyond yourself to reach your dreams.

Keep moving forward,
Michelle

Sounds like an interesting book. I’ll have to add it to my to-be-read list.

You’re right about the fear. I believe fear is the number one reason for not reaching dreams. Fear of what people may think, fear that we can’t handle it, fear that we won’t achieve our dreams so why even dream, fear of…

Well there are too many to list.

I kind of struggle with the same. I have a bunch of blogs, in several categories where I “live it out”. Art, humor, photo, environment, radical mind etc etc.

One day I thought, why not have a theme-week. Sit down with the calendar and name the next 20 weeks with something you like to do. Week 14 : The Artweek, Week 15 : Authorweek Week 16 : Crazy Mamma week Week 17 : Crazy Moneymaking week Week 18 : No-data-only-kid-focusing-week

etc etc

Its just a thought. And when in a named week it is _not legal to focus on any other matter_. :) Except important things like kids and family members and such.

And most important ; let everyone around you know what you’re experimenting with, some will understand and some will ignore. But maybe some will take it serious and inspire you with week’s theme? :)

I like it because focus is important. And I would image that focusing on one thing for a week would actually make you more aware of that particular thing in the weeks following as well so it would just build upon itself.

I like the way you frame goals in progress. So many times we beat ourselves up because we haven’t reached our goals. It is much more productive to acknowledge how far we have come to achieving our goals. “I’m an author now. But someday I’ll have a book on the shelves of your favorite bookstore.” is so much better than I haven’t published a book.
I know what I want. I focus on what I want and it comes. - Exactly!
Great post!

Hey thanks Tom.

I’ve been down the path of beating oneself up for not reaching goals plenty of times. In fact, I slip back into that pattern every once in a while. It doesn’t do any good at all. All it does it make me feel bad and means it takes me longer to reach my goal. I had to make a conscious decision to focus on the progress I made during the day, even if it is was that I noticed all the colors of green that existed in nature. That took me a little further down the artistic path. And even some days I’ve had to learn to congratulate myself for taking time to rest and renew my spirits. After all that is also an important part of achieving one’s purpose.
